History of Mead the drink of the Gods

History of Mead

The history of mead may go back more than 8,000 years. The oldest known meads were created on the Island of Crete. Wine had not yet been created. Mead was the drink of the Age of Gold, and the word for drunk in classical Greek remained "honey-intoxicated."

Polish mead produced in LublinMead was once very popular in Northern Europe, often produced by monks in monasteries in areas where grapes could not be grown. It faded in popularity, however, once wine imports became economical. Especially partial to it were the Slavs. In Polish it is called miód pitny (pronounced [mjut pi:tni]), meaning "drinkable honey". Mead was a favored drink among the Polish-Lithuanian szlachta (nobility). During the Crusades, Polish Prince Leszek I the White explained to the Pope that Polish knights could not participate in the Crusades because there was no mead in Palestine.

In Norse mythology, mead was the favorite drink of the Norse gods and heroes, e.g. in Valhalla, and the mead of the giant (Jotun) Suttung, made from the blood of Kvasir, was the source of wisdom and poetry. The nectar and ambrosia of the Greek gods are often thought of as draughts of fermented honey.

In Russia, mead remained popular as medovukha and sbiten long after its popularity declined in the West. Sbiten is often mentioned in the works by 19th-century Russian writers, including Gogol, Dostoevsky, and Tolstoy. Some beer producers attempt to revive sbiten' as a mass-produced drink in Russia.

In Finland, a sweet mead called Sima (cognate with zymurgy), is still an essential seasonal brew connected with the Finnish Vappu (May Day) festival. It is usually spiced by adding both the pulp and rind of a lemon. During secondary fermentation raisins are added to control the amount of sugars and to act as an indicator of readiness for consumption — they will rise to the top of the bottle when the drink is ready.

Ethiopian mead is called tej and is usually home-made. It is flavored with the powdered leaves and bark of gesho, a hops-like bittering agent which is a species of buckthorn. A sweeter, less-alcoholic version called berz, aged for a shorter time, is also made. The traditional vessel for drinking tej is a rounded vase-shaped container called a berele.

Evidence exists that mead was also made in India, Southeast Asia, China, Japan, and Central Africa. Mead is also mentioned in many old north Anglo-Saxon stories, including in the epic poem Beowulf, and in early Welsh poetry such as Y Gododdin.

The word "honeymoon" in English is supposedly traceable to the practice of a bride's father dowering her with enough mead for a month-long celebration in honor of the marriage. Mead is still manufactured in Britain, France, and various other locations, though the traditional status of most such manufacture is dubious. One of the most famous producers is the Holy Island of Lindisfarne in North East England, where mead has been produced since Anglo-Saxon times.

Varieties of mead
Mead can have a wide range of flavors, depending on the source of the honey, additives called "adjuncts" or "gruit" (including fruit and spices), yeast employed during fermentation, and aging procedure. Mead can be difficult to find commercially, though some producers have been successful marketing it. Consumers must bear in mind that some producers have marketed white wine with added honey as mead, often spelling it "meade." Blended varieties of mead can be known by either style represented. For instance, a mead made with cinnamon and apples can be referred to as a cinnamon cyser or as an apple metheglin.

Some meads retain some measure of the sweetness of the original honey, and some can even be considered as dessert wines. Drier meads are also available, and some producers offer sparkling meads, which (like champagne) can make for a delightful celebratory toast. There are a number of faux-meads, which are actually cheap wines with large amounts of honey added, to produce a cloyingly sweet liqueur. It has been said that "a mead that tastes of honey is as good as a wine that still tastes of grape".

Historically, meads would have been fermented by wild yeasts and bacteria [citation needed] residing on the skins of the fruit or within the honey itself. Wild yeasts generally provide inconsistent results, and in modern times various brewing interests have isolated the strains now in use. Certain strains have gradually become associated with certain styles of mead. Mostly, these are strains that are also used in beer or wine production. Several commercial labs, such as White Labs, WYeast, Vierka, and others have gone so far as to develop strains specifically for mead.

Mead can also be distilled to a brandy or liqueur strength. Krupnik is a sweet Polish liqueur made through just such a process.

Different types of mead include, but are not limited to:

Braggot - Braggot (also called bracket or brackett) marks the invention of Ale. Originally brewed with honey and hops, later with honey and malt - with or without hops added.

Black mead - A name sometimes given to the blend of honey and black currants.

Cyser - Cyser is a blend of honey and apple juice fermented together. See also cider.

Great mead - Any mead that is intended to be aged several years, like vintage wine. The designation is meant to distinguish this type of mead from "short mead" (see below.)

Hydromel - Hydromel literally means "water-honey" in Greek. It is also the French name for mead. (Compare with the Spanish hidromiel and aquamiel, Italian idromele and Portuguese hidromel). It is also used as a name for a very light or low-alcohol mead.

Melomel - Melomel is made from honey and any fruit. Depending on the fruit-base used, certain melomels may also be known by more specific names (see cyser, pyment, morat for examples)

Metheglin - Metheglin starts with traditional mead but has herbs and spices added. Some of the most common metheglins are ginger, tea, orange peel, coriander, cinnamon, cloves, or vanilla. Its name indicates that many metheglins were originally employed as folk medicines. (Though the Welsh word for honey is medd, the word "metheglin" actually derives from meddeglyn, a compound word comprised of meddyg, "healing" + llyn, "liquor".)

Morat - Morat blends honey and mulberries.

Omphacomel - A medieval mead recipe that blends honey with verjuice; could therefore be considered a variety of pyment.

Oxymel - Another historical mead recipe, blending honey with wine vinegar.

Perry - Perry-mead blends honey with milled, ripe pears. (See entry for the modern drink Babycham.)

Pyment - Pyment blends honey and red or white grapes. Pyment made with white grape juice is sometimes called "white mead."

Rhodomel - Rhodomel is made from honey, rose hips, petals, or rose attar, and water.

Sack mead - This refers to mead that is made with more copious amounts of honey than usual. The finished product retains an extremely high specific gravity and elevated levels of sweetness. It derives its name from the fortified dessert wine Sherry (which is sometimes sweetened after fermentation, and in England once bore the nickname of "sack".)

Short mead - Also called "quick mead". A type of mead recipe that is meant to age quickly, for immediate consumption. Because of the techniques used in its creation, short mead shares some qualities found in cider (or even light ale): primarily that it is effervescent, and often has a cidery taste.[citation needed]

Show mead - A term which has come to mean "plain" mead; that which has honey and water as a base, with no fruits, spices or extra flavorings. (Since honey alone does not provide enough nourishment for the yeast to carry on its life-cycle, a mead that is devoid of fruit, etc. will require a special yeast nutrient and other enzymes to produce an acceptable finished product.)

Tej - Tej is an Ethiopian mead, fermented with wild yeasts (and bacteria), and with the addition of gesho. Recipes vary from family to family, with some recipes leaning towards braggot with the inclusion of grains.

Mulsum - Mulsum is not a true mead, but is unfermented honey blended with a high-alcohol wine.

Medovina - Macedonian (of the Republic of Macedonia) for mead. Unfortunately, very few people still brew this for their own consumption. It is not available commercially.

Medovukha - Eastern Slavic variant, very alcoholic. In principle, a vodka with distilled honey addition.

Półtorak - A Polish mead, made using two units of honey for each unit of water

Dwójniak - A Polish mead, made using equal amounts of water and honey

Trójniak - A Polish mead, made using two units of water for each unit of honey

Czwórniak - A Polish mead, made using three units of water for each unit of honey

Gverc or Medovina - Croatian mead prepared in Samobor and many other places. Word “gverc” or “gvirc” is from German "Gewürze" and it refers to different spices added to mead.

                                          WikiLeaks Supporters Wage Cyber War

The recent events regarding Wikileaks and their senior editor, Julian Assange has been described by some as the first cyber war, albeit a very small one. News agencies have been reporting how after Assange handed himself in to British police, supports of Wikileaks began crashing sites such as Amazon, Visa, Paypal and Mastercard. There were even protests outside the British embassy calling for his release.
The communication cables published by Wikileaks has left many world leaders and politicians highly embarrassed which is why Mr. Assange needs the best possible west London solicitor. However Mr. Assange is wanted by two countries. Sweden is hoping to extradite him on charges of sexual assault and in America they can’t decide what to charge him on but they want him nevertheless.
Supports of Assange will argue that the internet is the last true place of freedom of speech. They believe that Wikileaks has the right to publish whatever material they like. If the American government therefore tries to stop Wikilekas from publishing material, it is an attack on freedom of speech.
Opponents will argue that the general public already has a good idea about what goes on behind doors in the world of politics and the press is able to find out plenty by their own means. Therefore it is argued that by publishing this information, Wikileaks is putting lives at risk.
Solicitors in London could debate the matter for days on end. Whatever happens with Assange there are only a couple of things we can be certain of. The first is that he is going to need a very strong legal team. The second thing for sure is that he not the first and will not be the last person to embarrass political leaders around the world. Others will pick up where he left of and rumour has it that his next big leak concerns America’s biggest bank.
Heads have only just begun spinning. More people will be exposed and once exposed west London lawyers will be thanking Wikileaks for all the new clients they provided. For many people Wikileaks exposed to the public what they already suspected, confirming the deep rooted mistrust between countries.
Is this going to make relations better between countries? Well it is still early on but at this stage it can go one of two ways. One, it helps countries resolve difference and improves dialogue between the two. The second way is escalation. Countries spy more on one another and the web of lies extends and grows. Wikileaks may have just ignited the fuse to the world’s first public cyber war.

500000 Plastic Coffins ready to be used in FEMA camps...

How much truth is there in the FEMA prison train cars seen in New Jersey and the coffins seen in Georgia? What is going on? Are americans going to be rounded up like cattle and put in these things?

There over 800 prison camps in the United States, all fully operational and ready to receive prisoners. They are all staffed and even surrounded by full-time guards, but they are all empty. These camps are to be operated by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) should Martial Law need to be implemented in the United States and all it would take is a presidential signature on a proclamation and the attorney general's signature on a warrant to which a list of names is attached.
The camps all have railroad facilities as well as roads leading to and from the detention facilities. Many also have an airport nearby. The majority of the camps can house a population of 20,000 prisoners. Currently, the largest of these facilities is just outside of Fairbanks, Alaska. The Alaskan facility is a massive mental health facility and can hold approximately 2 million people. There are numerous
Executive Orders associated with FEMA that would suspend the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. These Executive Orders have been on record for nearly 30 years and could be enacted by the stroke of a Presidential pen.
FEMA is the executive arm of the coming police state and thus will head up all operations. The Presidential Executive Orders already listed on the Federal Register also are part of the legal framework for this operation.

The FEMA coffins were patented as “multi-functional cremation containers” for dead bodies with the bizzare name regirstred on the FEMA coffin patent: “Multi-functional cremation container for a cadavar” and there already 500000 of them in the US, if you have in account that one coffin takes tree bodys inside just make the account... 1500000 ...and this is just for the first incoming off dead people.
the American government justifies the existence of those coffins with the need to prepare the logistics for the event of a serious biological / chemical / nuclear attack,, a serious pandemic like the Ebola virus or a possible nuclear war .. . This is the official version
For me ... is an excellent cover up of the same kind of those the U.S. government has accustomed us, a good justification for such a serious and delicate issue. This is not a joke and nor am I crazy. Im a intelligent person who is knowledgable about what is occurring now in the US and what is to come. If you do not know that is currently happening and will happen in the near future, just take a good look on the videos below...we citizens of the rest of the world are in trouble too as this maquiavelic plan is going to be extended to the rest of the world just because simply there are already too many people on the planet if this is real you better start tinking what you gona do about it... . How do we save ourselves? we are talking of selective elimination of individuals and ther families, about a political genocide and intectual elemination...millions will die...how will we survive? Its hard to sleep when you know the truth...for those who are AWAKE

Man 'Survives Without Food' For 70 Years

Indian doctors are studying a remarkable 83-year-old holy man who claims to have spent the last seven decades without food and water.

Prahlad Jani, an 82 year Indian yogi is used to living with empty stomach. He claims that he receives his energy from space.

At first medics thought him to be a swindler, but when they examined him they were of a different opinion. The unique yogi was placed in a hospital for observation. The first results shocked scientists and now they are trying to find out if other people can be taught to live without food and water.

Prahlad Jani says he has been living without food and water for over 70 years. He said that when he was eight he was homeless and lived in a cave near a Hindu temple where he was allegedly visited by an Indian goddess. She felt sorry for the child and bestowed these wonderful capabilities on him. Since then all he needs to survive is a drop or two of magic nectar sent to him by a goddess every day. The nectar penetrates his body through a special channel on the roof of his mouth. Scientists have no comments about it.

The unique yogi has been in complete isolation in the hospital for a week already and he is observed 24/7 with specially installed cameras. He has not been eating or drinking for the entire week. Every day doctors examine him trying to find signs of weakness or dehydration, but to no avail. They found that his brain cells are at the level of a 25-year old person, and his body is strong and young.

The doctors say they are dealing with a biological miracle because within 108 hours in the hospital he has not eaten or drunk and has not used a restroom even once. This raises complex questions . A human being can live without water and food up to 12 days. There were cases when people lived without food for 16 and even 30 days, but they drank water on the 8th day.

Jani is studied by 35 doctors. They say that yoga practice caused biological changes in his body. He explains it with the “life energy” given to him by the Indian goddess. This “energy” is especially interesting for military doctors.

The doctors are hoping this case will help them to research the ways of survival in extreme conditions without food or water. They believe it could be a real breakthrough in their attempts to send piloted spacecrafts to Mars. The unique patient will be examined for two more weeks. It will take the scientists another two months to meticulously study the results. Only then it will be obvious whether this is a coax or sensation.

Prahlad Jani Experimenter Still Won’t Release Study Results  in Mysteries, Religion, Science by Jim Cook

8 months after the end of an experiment purporting to show that Indian “holy man” Prahlad Jani survives without food or water, experiment chief Sudhir Shah still has not released study documentation to prove his claim. It’s since turned out that Prahlad Jani was “gargling” and pouring water over his head on a regular basis during the experiment. Sudhir Shah is a devotee of breatharianism who declares the object of his research is to convince people that they can live without eating or drinking. Prahlad Jani’s hermit cave? It’s a studio apartment with a refrigerator that his handlers won’t let visitors open.

Earth must prepare for close encounter with aliens, say scientists

January 14, 2011. A group of scientists overseas say world governments should start preparing an action plan in case Earth is contacted by aliens.

Earth must prepare for close encounter with aliens, say scientists

http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/20...raterrestrials

UN should co-ordinate plans for dealing with extraterrestrials – and we can't guarantee that aliens will be friendly.World governments should prepare a co-ordinated action plan in case Earth is contacted by aliens, according to scientists.

They argue that a branch of the UN must be given responsibility for "supra-Earth affairs" and formulate a plan for how to deal with extraterrestrials, should they appear.

The comments are part of an extraterrestrial-themed edition of the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society A published today. In it, scientists examine all aspects of the search for extraterrestrial life, from astronomy and biology to the political and religious fallout that would result from alien contact.

"Will a suitable process based on expert advice from proper and responsible scientists arise at all, or will interests of power and opportunism more probably set the scene?" asked Professor John Zarnecki of the Open University and Dr Martin Dominik of the University of St Andrews in the introductory paper. "A lack of co-ordination can be avoided by creating an overarching framework in a truly global effort governed by an international politically legitimated body." The pair argue that the UN has a ready-made mechanism for such a forum in its Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (Copuos).

Member states of Copuos should put "supra-Earth affairs" on their agenda, say the scientists, and establish structures similar to those proposed for dealing with threats from near-Earth objects, such as asteroids, that might be on a collision course with our planet.

According to Simon Conway Morris, a professor of evolutionary palaeobiology at Cambridge University, anyone planning for alien contact should prepare for the worst.

Evolution on alien worlds, he said, is likely to be Darwinian in nature. Morris argues that life anywhere else in the universe will therefore probably have important similarities with life on Earth – especially if it comes from Earth-like worlds that have similar biological molecules to ours. That means ET might resemble us, warts and all, with our tendencies towards violence and exploitation.

"Why should we 'prepare for the worst'? First, if intelligent aliens exist, they will look just like us, and given our far from glorious history, this should give us pause for thought," wrote Morris in the journal's special issue.

Ted Peters, a professor of systematic theology at the Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in California, considered what might happen to the world's religions in the event of ET making contact. Conventional wisdom suggests that terrestrial religion would collapse if the existence of extraterrestrial intelligence (ETI) were confirmed, he wrote.

"Because our religious traditions formulated their key beliefs within an ancient world view now out of date, would shocking new knowledge dislodge our pre-modern dogmas? Are religious believers Earth-centric, so that contact with ET would de-centre and marginalise our sense of self-importance? Do our traditional religions rank us human beings on top of life's hierarchy, so if we meet ETI who are smarter than us will we lose our superior rank? If we are created in God's image, as the biblical traditions teach, will we have to share that divine image with our new neighbours?"

His conclusion, however, is that faith in Earth's major religions would survive intact. "Theologians will not find themselves out of a job. In fact, theologians might relish the new challenges to reformulate classical religious commitments in light of the new and wider vision of God's creation."

"Traditional theologians must then become astrotheologians ... What I forecast is this: contact with extraterrestrial intelligence will expand the existing religious vision that all of creation – including the 13.7bn-year history of the universe replete with all of God's creatures – is the gift of a loving and gracious God," he speculated.

The influence of a more advanced intelligence on the old religions and legends

The way how mankind began to worship the gods is something that really arouses interest in me, from where cames the fantastic stories of the ancient holy books? the stories of the Torah, the Bible, the Koran etc. are the pure imagination of our ancestors? My opinion is no ... I think these stories are increased reports of things that our ancestors saw and reported the facts in the way how they knew reporting something that they did not understand, the same way you can see in this movie that i share below " Sun wheels, fire chariots and winged discs" and in a more relaxed way in the comedy "The Gods Must Be Crazy, "(which i also share) . Its realy interessing to see that man is in the essence the same as it was 4000 years ago, see the videos and take your conclusions.
In the near future we will make updates to this article with a lot of images and a article about the aliens in history since the stone age. enjoy the movies.

UFOs in Ancient Religious and Historical Artwork

While the UFO phenomenon may have gained popularity in the second half of the 20th Century, there have been many cases documented that indicate that the phenomenon may actually have occured often over the centuries.

While the UFO phenomenon may have gained popularity in the second half of the 20th Century, there have been many cases documented that indicate that the phenomenon may actually have occured often over the centuries. While one of the more famous ancient UFO sightings could have been the possible sighting in the first chapter of Ezekiel, that was certainly not the only reference to strange flying objects. There have been many references to flying objects or vehicles in the Mahabharata and also various historical paintings over the centuries that clearly indicate that people of that time had either seen or heard of some kind of saucer-shaped craft. In many cases, the depictions in the paintings even suggest some kind of deep-rooted relationship between UFOs and religion.
Ezekiel Chapter 1 says "Behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the color of amber, out of the midst of the fire. Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; the had the likeness of a man. And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings." It also speaks of how these living creatures had wheels and how when they "were lifted up from Earth, the wheels were lifted up also." This account was written six hundred years before Christ. The Greeks and Romans have also written about such things like phantom chariots appearing in the night sky. During the reign of Charlemagne, there were many accounts of "tyrants of the air, and their aerial ships." Charlemagne was so concerned at these reports that those reporting these phenomenon were put to death. There is another case reported in the year 1270 from Bristol, England. A spaceship was seen, which landed and an occupant came down from a ladder and was suffocated in the Earth's atmosphere. No account however, of what happened to the occupant's body, or the spaceship...
In Asia there are older artwork with images that look like UFO´s.

the reproduction of the engraving by Hans Glasser the event that had taken place in Nuremburg on the 14th of April 1561AD is imprinted. It appeared in a local broadsheet. The globes, crosses and tubes began to fight one another, and this went on for an hour. Then they all fell down on earth, as if on fire, and faded slowly away producing a lot of steam. Afterwards a black spear-like object was seen, and the whole event was taken to be a divine warning. The engraving is held at the Wickiana Collection, Zurich Central Library. It is the description of the war between the space forces of the gods and Nagas.

Annales LaurissensesCrusaders

These images of two crusaders date from a 12th century manuscript " Annales Laurissenses" (volumes/books about historical and religion events)and refer to a UFO sighting in the year 776, during the siege on Sigiburg castle, France. The Saxons besieged and surrounded the French people. They both were fighting when suddenly a group of discs (flaming shields) appeared hovering over the top of the church. It appeared to the Saxons that the French were protected by these objects and the Saxons fled.

"The Annunciation" by Carlo Crivelli, and hangs in the National Gallery, London. A disk shaped UFO-type object throwing down a beam of light down onto Mary's head, is shown in detail.

The above is a painting on wood drawer from furniture kept at the Earls D’Oltremond, Belgium. Moses is receiving the tablets and several objects in the sky are seen near by. Date and artist unknown. This supports the claims of many that many biblical events, can be further explained when ufos and aliens are taken into consideration, higher forms of technology could explain some of the events such as writing on stone with fire, parting the red sea, etc... higher forms of technology might explain how some of these feats were performed.
This painting is called "The Madonna with Saint Giovannino". It was painted in the 15th century. The Palazzo Vecchio lists the artist as unknown although attributed to the Lippi school.Above Mary's right shoulder is a disk shaped object. Below is a blow up of this section and a man and his dog can clearly be seen looking up at the object.

A fresco entitled "The Crucifixion" and was painted in 1350. The fresco is located above the altar at the Visoki Decani Monestary in Kosovo, Yugoslavia. The two objects in the painting, which could be considered UFO's, are enlarged below.

These books were compilations of articles by different authors and consisted of detailed accounts of long engagements at sea, cartography information etc.

The above illustration depicts a sighting that occurred at 9.45pm on the evening of 18th August 1783 when four witnesses on the terrace of Windsor Castle observed a luminous object in the skies of the Home Counties of England. The sighting was recorded the following year in the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society. According to this report, witnesses observed an oblong cloud moving more or less parallel to the horizon. Under this cloud could be seen a luminous object which soon became spherical, brilliantly lit, which came to a halt; This strange sphere seemed at first to be pale blue in colour but then its luminosity increased and soon it set off again towards the east. Then the object changed direction and moved parallel to the horizon before disappearing to the south-east ; the light it gave out was prodigious; it lit us everything on the ground.; The image was captured in this by Thomas Sandby (a founder of the Royal Academy) and his brother Paul, both of whom witnessed the event.

France 6th Century
"The Baptism of Christ", by Aert de Gelder, painted in 1710 and hangs in the Fitzwilliam Musuem, Cambridge. A disk shaped, UFO type object is shining beams of light down upon John the Baptist and Jesus.
The above painting is by Bonaventura Salimbeni entitled "Glorification of the Eucharist", painted in 1600. Notice the Sputnik satellite device. It hangs in the church of San Lorenzo in San Pietro. It is considered by some to be a stylised representation of the Earth but I have included it here as it still looks interesting.

Detail
"La Tebaide" by Paolo Uccello (painted c.1460-1465)
The painting represents various scenes of monastic life: at the bottom left the Virgo appears to saint Bernard; above it a group of monks flagellate themselves in front of the Crucifix; in the middle, into a large grotto, there is saint Jerome praying in front of the Cross, while at the top saint Francis kneels down and receives the Stigmata. At the bottom right there is a representation of a saint preaching, probably saint Romuald.
According to some ufology authors, the red object appearing in the central grotto, at the right side of the Cross, is a flying saucer: «In the painting, set aside from the hill by means of a perspective effect, there is a saucer object, suspended into the air and surmounted by a red domed top. Red in color, the object comes out over the dark background by contrast. The dynamic movement of the flying object is rendered by means of light brush strokes, red in color again, which provide the effect of a sudden turn.» (NDR: excerpt from Edicolaweb, English translation by the author)

"La Tebaide" by Paolo Uccello (painted c.1460-1465). The detail shows a suposed saucer shaped UFO seen near Jesus. The painting is in the Academy of Florence.

in the case of this image i am of the opinion that it is not a UFO. The enlargement to which the excerpt refers to shows indeed a dark and uniform background (see image on the right). Anyway the observation of a best reproduction clears that the “strange object” is located inside – and not outside - the grotto, as the kneeling figure itself. It clears as well that the object lies on the ground close to the Cross and that its dimensions are smaller than those of the animal close to it.

At this point anyone with a minimum knowledge in history of the arts would recognize a cardinal hat (flaked cords are clearly visible). As a matter of facts the kneeling figure is saint Jerome, who was told to become an eremite after renouncing to the ecclesiastic career:
«according to one of the most common iconographical modules, Jerome in the desert flagellate his chest with a stone while kneeling down in front of a Crucifix or while reading the Holy Bible, in order to discover the gradual sequence of the divine revelation and its realization in Christ. The deposition of the purple vest symbolizes the abandon of the ecclesiastic life, full of duties and intellectual satisfactions as well as superb vanishing glory and the pharisaic conviction of a moral and cultural superiority.»

This image cames from the french book "Le Livre Des Bonnes Moeurs" by Jacques Legrand. You can find this book in Chantilly Condé's Museum ref 1338 ,297 part 15 B 8. Some people say that the sphere is a balloon but there was no balloon in france in 1338

These two tapestries were created in the 15th century. Both depict the life of Mary. Hat shaped objects can be clearly seen in both tapestries. The one on the right is entitled "The Magnificat". Both are located at the french basillica Notre-Dame in Beaune, Burgandy.

The above image is entitled "The Assumption of the Virgin" by ANON. Painted c.1490. Once again notice the discoidal clouds.

This broadsheet picture by Samuel Coccius illustrates a UFO sighting over Basel, Switzerland in 1566. 'Large black Globes' appeared in the skies. It is held at the Wickiana Collection, Zurich Central Library.

The above image comes from the 10th Century Tibetan translation of the Sanskrit text "Prajnaparamita Sutra", held at a Japanese museum. In the enlargement you can see two objects that look like hats, but why are they floating in mid air ? also one of them appears to have port holes on it. Indian Vedic texts are full of descriptions of Vimanas. The Ramayana describes Vimanas as a double decked, circular or cylindrical aircraft with portholes and a dome. It flew with "the speed of the wind" and gave forth a "melodious sound".

Unknown Origin

This is an artistic reproduction of a relief found in a labyrinth on the island Jotuo in the Toengt'ing lake. An expedition took place in 1957 (two years before an earthquake in that region). The expedition was led by professor Tsj'i Pen-Lai. They found various reliefs showing "humans" in strange clothes which looked like astronaut suits (hose like objects attached to the clothes). They also found a painting which apparently resembled the solar system. The third and fourth circle (planet) were connected with a line. Also there were ten planets (excluding the sun as planet). This connects easily to the theories about Nibiru, planet X, etc

This is an illustration from a book "Ume No Chiri (Dust of Apricot)" published in 1803. A foreign ship and crew witnessed at Haratonohama (Haratono Seashore) in Hitachi no Kuni (Ibaragi Prefecture), Japan this strange object. According to the explanation in the drawing, the outershell was made of iron and glass, and strange letters shown in this drawing were seen inside the ship.

This is an old Chinese illustration from a fictional book entitled "Illustrated Survey of Weird Countries" (c.1400 A.D.) and had the following original caption: "Ji Gung Land: The people could make flying cars that travelled far with a suitable wind. In Tarng's day (c.1700 B.C.), Ji Gung people flying a car on a westerley reached Yew Jo. Tarng dismantled their car so it could not be demonstrated to the people ... Later an east wind came on which he had them fly the car back to their own country [5,000 km] west pf our gateway."
